Line-up Announced For New Sheffield Festival.

This year has seen live music and the arts devastated by Coronavirus; with events cancelled and venues struggling to stay afloat, it’s safe to say that Sheffield’s live music scene has really taken a hit this year. However, there’s hope on the horizon.

Futuresound and Somewhere Events have teamed up to bring food, drink and brilliant live music back to Sheffield on the 1st and 2nd of May 2021. Get Together Festival will be held at Sheffield’s Student Union over the bank holiday weekend and, as well as great music,  people will also be able to enjoy a variety of street food and access to the Student Union’s annual Beer and Cider Festival. The line-up announced this morning features some big names with Murder Capital and Sheffield’s very own one-woman powerhouse, Self Esteem, headlining on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Some other great artists announced so far include the lead singer of The Charlatans, Tim Burgess; Dublin-based band Pillow Queens and electronic Afro-Punk band, Ibibio Sound Machine.

There’s no doubt that people will be happy to see such a varied mix of genres being represented from Afro-Punk to Indie-Rock and everything in between. It’s also great to see local and regional talent being showcased with Self Esteem, The Orielles, BDRMM and Working Men’s Club all hailing from Yorkshire. It’ll be interesting to see who else will be added to this fantastic line-up as more artists are announced over the coming weeks and months.

Tickets go on general sale on 2nd October, costing just £25 for the day or £35 for the weekend.
