It has been announced this morning that South Yorkshire, including Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley and Rotherham, will move into Tier-3 restrictions this Saturday.
From midnight on 24th October, South Yorkshire residents will have to adhere to the highest level of restrictions. Bars, pubs and restaurants will be closed, unless they serve a full menu of food. A ban on household mixing, indoors and outdoors will be also enforced. We can expect more from our individual authorities to give clarity on the situation in the coming hours. Sheffield’s Mayor, Dan Jarvis, has been quoted that there have been “extensive discussions” with ministers.
While South Yorkshire continues to battle the Covid-19 crisis, the future of businesses and the economy is becoming a greater threat to many. With greater restrictions coming into place, local leaders including Dan Jarvis have negotiated with the Government to secure a £41 million fund to further support struggling business.
