Grand Final Week
Sydney’s Bogong Moth cyclone final nail in the coffin for Roosters Trophy
DON’T BE A CHICKEN: Sydney’s Bogong moth apocalypse has taken its toll on the Rooster’s grand final training.
In an act of self righteous defiance to the Kingdom of Newcastle, the feathery flock of trophy hopefuls even had the guts to flash a Steggles logo on their jerseys.
Talk about foreshadowing.
As the big, almost mammal like moths, rained down on the CBD over the last 24 hours, we are aware of unconfirmed reports that the chooks are at a loss about whether they should even step on the field.
A source speaking on the condition of anonymity told Steel City Standard reporters:
“Look, every man on that field has earned the chance to win.
But the cockerels can’t help shake the feeling that the Universe, maybe even God himself, are backing the Knights through to a win.
This is the last in a chain of events that is making the boys wonder if they should take a hint and step onto the field ready to hand Newy the crown.”
A representative for the Bogong Moths provided a limited, ominous, statement to our reporters, reading simply:
“They’d rather have Henny Penny.” #newcastle #hennypenny #newy #newcastleknights
Satire, obviously. The Steel City Standard is a satirical publication. The stories here are made up for a laugh and are not statements of fact.
