Conditions, turbulence in Lord Mayor’s Singapore departure blamed for delay in Newcastle Grand Final ‘live site’ reveal

Grand Final Week

ALL ACROSS THE WORLD: Well, conditions are looking hazy and humid in the famous lands of Singapore, where Newcastle Lord Mayor Gavin Morris was last spotted.

Locals didn’t think much of the brief jump over to South East Asia, until Gav from the Telly missed the time scheduled to announce a live site for the Newcastle NRL grand final, yesterday on Wednesday, 30 September 2026.

It was out of character for the Lord Mayor who is anything but camera shy, to miss such a hotly anticipated announcement.

This Masthead subsequently made enquiries with Air Traffic Control at Singapore Airport who confirmed that a mixture of weather conditions delayed the weather-boy turned City Mayor’s departure.

We are told after licking his finger and sticking it in the air, scout style, to check the wind had subsided, Gav launched into his paraglider and was on his way.

He is expected to make good time and land safely back in Newcastle today.

We will be posting live updates of the Lord Mayor’s transit, keep an eye on our stories to watch the journey unfold.
