Grand Final Week
Locals demand return of the Seaplane to Sydney in honour of the Grand Final
SCREAMING WETS: Any local who was sentient enough to remember the opening of Queen’s Wharf Tower but the lady herself, would also remember taking a trip or two on the Seaplane between Newcastle and Sydney.
Local fans and patriots this week have called for its return to service.
They have expressed frustration at the limited transport options when making the much dreaded trudge to Sydney to engage in activities which should definitely be offered in the land of the great.
Taking its last flight in 2012, the work of the golden Knights last weekend has caused some townies to wonder, is it time for a true renaissance?
One local was asked for his option:
“Bring it back. Paint it blue and red if you have to.”
“Gav loves to fly, he sits on the airport board - it’s time to stop wasting our time waiting for someone else to save us.”
“To quote K Ponga, the myth the man, ‘no one is going to come and do the work to save us, and get the job done, for us.” #newcastle #newy #newcastleknights
